A Trio of Cyclones Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

IRVING, Texas - Three Iowa State golfers were named to the Academic All-Big 12 women's golf team, announced by the Big 12 Conference this morning. Senior Kristin Paulson and sophomores Sasikarn On-iam and Prima Thammaraks received the honor for the 37th-ranked Cyclones. 

Paulson earned first-team honors for the third time in her career. Paulson is a senior in materials engineering. A grade point average of 3.2 or higher and participation in 60 percent of the team's scheduled contests in 2011-12 is required to qualify for the team. 

Paulson, an Ottumwa, Iowa native, has competed in every tournament this season. She is ranked 194th nationally by Golfstat and helped lead the team to a second place finish at the Mountain View Collegiate with a career-low 218. Her 75.59 stroke average is tied for second on the team with On-iam. 

Thammaraks, who is from Bangkok, Thailand, leads the team in stroke average at 75.29. The sophomore is ranked 151st nationally by Golfstat and leads the team with three top-10 finishes.  

On-iam shares Paulson's national rank by Golfstat (194) and season stroke average of 75.59. The sophomore has competed in all nine tournaments, posting a career-low 216 at the Central District Invitational en route to a third-place finish.

A total of 56 student-athletes were named to the team.
