Cyclones 2nd, Within Striking Distance at Big 12 Championship

LAWRENCE, Kan.-The Iowa State women's golf team remains in striking distance at the 2012 Big 12 Championships, lurking five shots back of Oklahoma in second place after two rounds of play at the Lawrence Country Club.

The Cyclones carded a 302 this afternoon for a two-round 613 total. The Sooners posted a second-round low 292 this afternoon to take over the lead at 608 with 18 holes to go.

Four Cyclones remain in the top-15, led by sophomore Sasikarn On-iam, who is tied for fourth at 149 (75-74). Punpaka Phuntumabamrung carded a 75 this afternoon to give her a two-day total of 153, good enough for 10th place.

Chonlada Chayanun and Prima Thammaraks are currently tied for 15th at 157. Chayanun bounced back with a 74 today.

The tournament will conclude with the final 18 holes tomorrow.
