Cyclones Eye Next Step At NCAA Regional
AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's golf team will be making its third-straight NCAA Regional appearance on Thursday (May 10-12) at the NCAA West Regional. The Regional will be contested at the Colorado National Golf Course in Erie, Colo.
Having narrowly missing out on the NCAA Championships the last two seasons, the Cyclones are ready to make the next step into the national tournament. In both 2010 and 2011, Iowa State finished 10th at the NCAA West Regional, missing the cut by just five shots.
The top eight teams in the 24-team field will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
The Colorado National Golf Course, which was rated as Colorado's No. 1 Golf Club in 2010, will be a tough test. The course features many bunkers and elevation changes in its par-72, 6,575-yard layout.
