Cyclones Tied For 12th At NCAA West Regional

ERIE, Colo. - The Iowa State women's golf team is tied for 12th at the NCAA West Regional after firing a first-round 302 this afternoon. The Cyclones are 15 shots out of first place, which is occupied by Stanford at 287.

Punpaka Phuntumabamrung and Prima Thammaraks got off to strong starts for the Cyclones, carding rounds of 72 and 73, respectively. Phuntumabamrung is tied for 14th and Thammaraks is tied for 18th. Phuntumabamrung had four birdies on her card today.

Freshman Chonlada Chayanun is currently tied for 54th after carding a 76.

The top eight teams in the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships. The second round begins tomorrow morning followed by the third and final round on Saturday.
