Thammaraks Ties for Eighth at Western Amateur

MONROE, Mich. - Iowa State junior golfer Prima Thammaraks is off to a fantastic start to her summer. The Bangkok, Thailand native tied for 8th in stroke play at the 112th Women's Western Amateur at the Monroe Golf and Country Club in Monroe, Mich., yesterday.

Thammaraks carded rounds of 72-74 (146) to help her advance to the match play portion of the tournament, which begins today. She faces Shannon Lubar of Littleton, Colo., at 9:30 a.m. CT.

Thammaraks led the Cyclones in stroke average (75.67) and top-10 finishes (3) last year.
