Cyclones Ninth After Day One at Mercedes-Benz

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 14 Iowa State women's golf team fired a first-round 298 at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Friday afternoon. The Cyclones are currently in ninth place in the strong 16-team field. The tournament consists of seven teams ranked in the nation's top-50 according to Golfstat.

Penn State and Texas A&M are currently in a tie for first place in the team race at 291.

Iowa State was led by Sasikarn On-iam, who is currently in a tie for 12th after posting a 73. Chonlada Chayanun and Punpaka Phuntumabamrung are close behind On-iam in a tie for 22nd after firing a pair of 74s.

Hana Lee of Northwestern leads the medalist race after carding a first-round 69.

Teams play 18 holes tomorrow followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday.
