AMES, Iowa - Christie Martens has her team’s sights set on a successful spring season and a school record fifth-consecutive NCAA Regional bid.

Iowa State is well on its way to achieving this mark. The Cyclones finished the fall season ranked No. 19 nationally according to Golfweek/Sagarin. The team finished with a record of 44-23 this fall while playing one of the most rigorous schedules in college golf having already faced 20 teams ranked in Golfstat’s top-30.

Sophomore All-Big 12 performer Cajsa Persson will look to build on a very impressive fall campaign. Persson compiled a 73.08 scoring mark to lead the team. The Sweden native garnered three top-10 finishes, which places her in a tie for fifth all-time for top-10s in a season. Persson ended the fall season No. 55 in the Golfweek/Sagarin individual rankings..

The Cyclones also found consistent play from two familiar faces in seniors Sasikarn On-Iam and Prima Thammaraks.

On-iam was second on the team in scoring, posting a 74.00 scoring average. She finished the season ranked in Golfweek’s top 100 (99). At the Betsy Rawls Invitational, On-iam completed her 100th round as a Cyclone. Her career scoring mark of 75.58 ranks second all-time among ISU golfers.

Thammaraks also provided solid senior leadership. The senior from Thailand compiled a stroke average of 74.83, the fourth best total on the team. She picked up a top-10 (10th place) at the Dick McGuire Invite and her career scoring average (75.39) is No. 1 all-time in the Iowa State record books.

After such a successful fall season, the team looks poised and ready to make a run at their fifth-straight NCAA Regional bid. They must first, however, continue their grueling schedule, which includes a trip to the Big 12 Championships. The Big 12 currently features five teams ranked in the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sangarin top-50.

Iowa State will return to the course on Feb. 9 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
