AMES, Iowa –The Iowa State track and field teams will be competing at a trio of meets this weekend. The Cyclones will be sending student-athletes to the Mt. Sac Relays, the Kansas Relays and the LSU Alumni Gold meet.

Mt. Sac Relays
Members of the women’s distance squad and Edward Kemboi will be heading to Walnut, Calif. to compete in the Mt. Sac Relays. The trio of Katy Moen, Bethanie Brown and Samantha Bluske will be running the women’s 10,000-meter run, marking their debut in the event this season. The three each posted personal-bests in the 5,000m at the Stanford Invitational, as Moen became the fifth runner in program history to break the 16-minute barrier (15:56.53).

Crystal Nelson is slated to make her 2013-14 debut in the 5K with Perez Rotich. Coming off of a career-best in the 1,500m, Maggie Gannon will look to crack Iowa State’s top-10 in the event after coming just short at Stanford with a PR of 4:24.71.

Three-time All-American and 2014 NCAA indoor runner-up Edward Kemboi will be making his outdoor debut in the 800-meter run. Kemboi will be competing in an elite field that will feature Olympian Duane Solomon along with numerous professional athletes. Mississippi State’s Brandon McBride, NCAA indoor 800-meter champion, will also be in the field.

LSU Alumni Gold
Members of the sprints/hurdles and field events will be traveling to Baton Rouge, La. to compete in the LSU Alumni Gold meet this weekend. Ryan Sander, Ivan Tamba and Jared Ingram will lead the sprints action, along with Derek Jones in the 400-meter hurdles. Jones currently holds the fifth-fastest time in the event run by a freshman this season at 52.07 seconds.

Ese Okoro will be taking the track in the 400-meter hurdles, entering the race with the nation’s No. 3 ranking in the event. Okoro holds a personal best of 56.78 seconds, which is good for fifth in program history and is the fastest time run by a British athlete in the 400H this season. Kendra White will also be competing in the 400-meter dash.

Also competing at LSU will be a trio of hammer throwers in Henry Kelley, Kayla Sanborn and Anna Holtermann. All three rank in the top-10 in Iowa State outdoor history. Kelley holds a PR of 185 feet, 7 inches and ranks sixth in program history, while Sanborn and Holtermann rank sixth and 10th on the women’s side. Look for Jan Jeuschede to put on a strong performance in the men’s shot put, as the Rosrath, Germany, native will be making his outdoor debut at the event.

Kansas Relays
A group of the Iowa State women’s distance squad will take the track in Lawrence, Kan. this weekend, competing in the Kansas Relays. The Cyclone women will be competing in the 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m on the weekend.

Also making the trip will be sprinters Jessica Nichols, Britney Williams and Emily Toennies. Nichols is coming off a near-best in the 200-meter dash, despite running into a strong headwind. Bree Woelber will be competing in the long jump as well as the 100-meter hurdles, as she continues her return to multi-event competition. Kaci Storm will be competing both the 100H and 400H.

On the men’s side, Steve Dado is set to run the 10,000m. Taylor Sanderson will look to notch strong marks in the long jump.
