AMES, Iowa - Honorable mention All-American basketball player Kelsey Bolte and undefeated NCAA 174-pound champion Jon Reader have been named Iowa State's women's and men's athletes of the year, respectively, for the 2010-2011 collegiate athletics season. Bolte was a unanimous 2010-2011 All-Big 12 Conference selection who played on four NCAA Tournament teams in her career. Reader finished his 39-0 senior season with a career record of 124-23 in March and was the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Big 12 Championship.

Bolte led Iowa State to its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament, finishing the season averaging 16.9 points and 5.2 rebounds as the Cyclones posted 22-11 record. Bolte scored in double-figures 28 times. The Ida Grove native was the third-leading scorer in the Big 12 in conference games (18.6 ppg.) Her 557 points last season ranks fourth in school history.

Bolte finished her career with 1,639 points, which ranks sixth on the all-time Iowa State charts. She is Iowa State's career (.879) and single-season (.888) free-throw percentage leader. Bolte ranks third all-time at ISU and fifth in the Big 12 with 276 career three-pointers made. She was a major contributor on Iowa State's 2009 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight squad and 2010 NCAA Sweet Sixteen team.  Bolte, who graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in communications studies, was a three-time member of the academic All-Big 12 team and earned first-team honors last season.

Reader's undefeated season included 27 bonus-point victories. He beat Stanford's Nick Amuchastegui, 10-3 in his final career match for the NCAA 174-pound crown. The Davison, Mich. native beat both of his opponents in the Big 12 Championships by major decision. Reader was the 2010 Midlands Championships title winner at 174 pounds.

Reader's 124 career victories rank him eighth in school history. He finished his career as a three-time All-American after finishing seventh at 165 pounds as a freshman in 2008 and fourth at 165 in 2009. He graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in business management.
