Sorenson Beat in Quarterfinal, to Wrestle Tonight
UPDATED BRACKETS
ST. LOUIS - Iowa State's Andrew Sorenson dropped a quarterfinal match to Brandon Hatchett of Lehigh, 7-3 Friday in the Scottrade Center. Sorenson, who is struggling with an injury suffered during his second round win Thursday, will wrestle Wisconsin's Ben Jordan in tonight's consolation round. Iowa State's other grapplers in the consolation rounds lost decisions that knocked them out of the tournament. Penn State leads the team scoring with 78.5 points. Iowa State is 31st with 11.5 points.
In consolation, Iowa State heavyweight Matt Gibson beat Central Michigan's Peter Sturgeon, 8-0 but was felled by No. 7 Jeremy Johnson of Ohio, 11-2.
Jon Morrison of Oklahoma State beat Ryak Finch in their 125-pound consolation match, 4-0. Mitchell Port of Edinboro won by technical fall over Iowa State's Luke Goettl, 17-2 in seven minutes at 141 pounds.
Action resumes Friday at 6 p.m.
