Cyclones Use Strong 2nd Half To Down Coyotes 88-72

AMES, Iowa – The No. 22/18 Iowa State women’s basketball team (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) downed the South Dakota Coyotes 88-72 (1-2, 0-0 MVC) in front of 9,628 Cyclone fans. Senior Hallie Christofferson led Iowa State with 25 points and 12 rebounds for her second double-double in as many games.

Turning Point of the Game
With Iowa State clinging to a one-point lead, 57-56, South Dakota’s Raeshel Contreras received a technical foul, giving the Cyclones two shots. Iowa State would capitalize, hitting both free throws sparking a 21-3 run with 8:41 left in the game. The run was the largest of the game for both teams, featuring scoring from four different Cyclones.

Game Ball Goes To...
Hallie Christofferson. The Hamlin, Iowa, native notched her second-consecutive double-double, the 13th of her career.

Honorable mention goes to Nikki Moody and Brynn Williamson, each scoring over 15 points in the Cyclone effort. Moody also tacked on seven assists.

*Christofferson tallied her 60th-career double-figure scoring game and 16th-career game with 20+ points when she finished with 25 points and her 13th career double-double with 12 boards.
*Williamson put up her 17th-career double-figure scoring effort with 18 points, which is also a season high.
* Christofferson went a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe against the Coyotes
*Nikki Moody recorded her 28th-career game in double figures with 20 points, just one-point shy of tying her career high.
*Nicole “Kidd” Blaskowsky made Iowa State’s 4,500th trey with 5:48 to play in ISU’s 583-game three-point streak. She also made numbers 4,300 and 4, 400 last season.
