Woody, Norris Earn Gautt Postgraduate Scholarships

AMES, Iowa- Former Iowa State running back Jeff Woody and former Iowa State swimmer Sarah Norris have received Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship Awards, announced today by the Big 12 Conference.

The scholarships are named in honor of late Dr. Prentice Gautt, a former Big 12 Conference staff member and student services’ pioneer who passed away in March 2005.

Criteria for the award includes a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, participation in at least two years of intercollegiate athletics at the nominee’s respective institution and completion of athletics’ eligibility. The student-athletes also must graduate from their respective member institutions and enroll in graduate or professional school of choice within 15 months following their selection at the spring meeting of the Faculty Athletics Representatives.

Woody, a kinesiology and health major, earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2013 and Academic All-Big 12 Second Team in 2011 and 2012. A 2013 team co-captain, Woody led the Cyclones with five rushing touchdowns.

Norris, a biology and psychology major, earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2010, 2011, and 2012. She also earned Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in the fall of 2011 and earned the Cyclone Relay Swimmer Award in 2011-2012.
