Cyclones Sign BGSU Transfer Paris Imholz
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State softball team added a valuable arm to its pitching staff in Bowling Green State transfer Paris Imholz. Imholz, who recently signed her financial aid agreement to attend Iowa State, joins the Cyclone roster after pitching two seasons for the Falcons, head coach Stacy Gemeinhardt-Cesler announced this morning.
Imholz pitched a total of 358.1 innings in her two years at BGSU, amassing an ERA of just 1.86 while striking out 178 batters. In her 52 starts in the circle for the Orange and Brown, Imholz posted a career record of 33-17, including nine shutout victories.
“We’re really excited about Paris joining the team this season,” Gemeinhardt-Cesler said. “She will have an immediate impact on our pitching staff with her experience and all the success she’s had in her first two seasons of collegiate softball. Those attributes will be a good balance for us with incoming freshman Katie Johnson on the staff as well as returning sophomore Riley Fisher.”
A native of Antioch, Calif., Imholz built an impressive resumé in her time as a Falcon, being named to the Mid-American Conference (MAC) All-Freshman Team (2012) in her initial season and encored by earning MAC All-Second Team accolades in her sophomore campaign (2013).
In high school, Imholz was a four-time varsity letter winner at Antioch, where she was listed in the Contra Costa Times Top 125 Athletes of the Year. Imholz was Antioch’s defensive player of the year in each season from 2008-10. She also earned varsity letters in volleyball and soccer.
Imholz will study journalism at Iowa State.
