Softball Eco Challenge Is Saturday

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State softball team will compete in its annual Eco Challenge on Saturday, Aug. 25.
The Cyclones will split into teams of two and race around Ames completing a series of events including swimming, biking, canoeing and running.
The team will start at the State Gym pool on the Iowa State campus where players will swim four laps before jumping on bikes.
The bike route will run east on Union Drive before heading north on Bissell Road. The Cyclones will take a right on Pammel Drive and a left on Stange, heading to Ames Racquet and Fitness where competitors will leave their bikes and continue north on Stange until reaching Bloomington Road and turning east.
After a left turn on Hyde Avenue and a right on Harrison Road, players will pick up a canoe and trek across Ada Hayden Lake before finishing the challenge with a jog around the lake path.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team along the Eco Challenge course on Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m. CST and meet the team at Ada Hayden Park at the finish of the race, at approximately 9 a.m.
