AMES, Iowa- Iowa State has been strong defensively all season long. One of those reasons has been the play of redshirt freshman Kourtney Camy.

Last season Camy transferred to Iowa State after a short stint with Arkansas State. After sitting out a year while redshirting, Camy has been a key component to the Cyclone defense leading Iowa State to a 4-4 record so far this season. caught up with the freshman defender.

Why did you choose Iowa State?

I actually knew Coach Minatta previously, when he was a coach in Colorado. When I was transferring it seemed like a good fit for me.

Did last year help you prepare for this year?

I only spent about two weeks at Arkansas State, just the preseason and then I transferred. It was good to experience the preseason aspect of it to know what college soccer is all about. I think that it helped me mature as a player and as a student. It helped me become more ready for college than I was before.

Describe your relationship with Coach Minatta?

I look up to him a lot. He is a really strong coach and a really strong person. I think that he is awesome for Iowa State, and I am happy to have the opportunity to play for him.

If you had to be one super hero who would you be?

Probably Superman because he does it all.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?

Most likely some type of Mexican food. will be introducing other players throughout the season. Check back later for our next player introduction.
