McKINNEY, Texas- The Iowa State men’s golf team has three players in the top-10 through two rounds at the Jim West Intercollegiate to help the Cyclones occupy second place (278-275=553) with one round to go. The Cyclones trail first-place Virginia (273-267=540) by 13 strokes.
Junior Sam Daley was one of many bright spots for the Cyclones this afternoon. Daley recorded a pair of 68s for a two-round 136 tally. He is currently tied for fifth and is looking for his second top-10 finish on the season.
Freshman Nick Voke is also tied for fifth in the medalist race after carding rounds of 70 and 66 (136). Voke, who has a team-best seven sub-70 rounds this year, is in pursuit of his fourth top-10 of the season.
Junior All-American Scott Fernandez started out the day with a blistering 7-under 65 in round one, just a shot shy of the 18-hole school record. He followed it up with an even-par 72 to place in a tie for ninth at 137.
