WATERLOO, Iowa - On a hot day in Fort Dodge and the Cedar Valley, the biggest of crowds turned out Tuesday for the first stops on the second of three Cyclone Tailgate Tours.  The warmth of the crowds made it a special time for Iowa State's head coaches, staff and student-athletes.

The day began in Fort Dodge with a Cyclone lunch celebration at the Willow Ridge Golf Course. Iowa State head football coach Paul Rhoads spoke to an audience that filled the main lounge and the bar area.  It was standing room only.

"To come out here and see all of you people here reminds us that we are all a part of something special," Rhoads said. "We have had some great players from Fort Dodge including Nick Moser and Kurtis Taylor and a pair of tight ends now on our roster, Drew Mitchell and Reid Branderhorst."

Iowa State Athletics Director Jamie Pollard affirmed the excellence by nine-time All-American Lisa Koll, the nation's premier collegiate distance runner and a Fort Dodge native.

The evening session was at the Cattle Congress in Waterloo.  Pollard loved the turnout.

"The size of the audience tonight is the biggest we have had yet on the tour," Pollard said. "Thanks to all of you and the Cedar Valley for your support of Iowa State athletics."

The evening ended with all the children of those in attendance coming to the stage and yelling "Go Cyclones."

"When I came here, people would always say to me that they became a Cyclone because their parents brought them to games at Clyde Williams Field or Jack Trice Stadium," Pollard said. "That is why we do this."

For fans who met ISU head men's basketball coach Fred Hoiberg, head women's basketball coach Bill Fennelly, wrestling head coach Kevin Jackson, head volleyball coach Christy Johnson-Lynch or soccer head coach Wendy Dillinger, it was a night to remember.
