Posted a 33-9 record in his final season as a Cyclone… finished with 14 dual wins and 2 losses… garnered seventh-place honors at the 2016 NCAA Championship to finish as an All-American for the second time in his career… became Iowa State’s 84th multi-time All-American in program history… in his final match as an Iowa State wrestler, defeated Utah Valley’s Jade Rauser by 17-1 technical-fall… reached the podium when he beat Dom Forys of Pittsburgh by 13-7 decision… began the NCAA Championship with a 2-0 mark with wins over Josh Martinez of Air Force and Kent State’s Mack McGuire… earned an automatic-qualifying spot for the NCAA Championship by finishing runner-up champion at the 2016 Big 12 Championship… fell to Oklahoma’s Cody Brewer by 12-7 decision in the title match… reached the finals with a 6-5 decision over Rico Montoya of Northern Colorado and a 16-8 major-decision against OSU’s Gary Wayne Harding… following the Midlands Championships where he finished seventh, he won 10 out of his final 11 regular-season matches… pinned UNI’s Josh Alber in 4:17, which proved to be the difference in the Cyclone’s dual win against the Panthers… finished in fourth-place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational… started off the year 8-0 with a Cyclone Open title… was second on the team in bonus-point victories with 15… was presented with the Iowa State wrestling Outstanding Academic Award.

Qualified for the NCAA Championships with a 27-8 record, earning the No. 6 seed... posted a 2-2 record before being knocked out in the round of 12 at the NCAA Championships... defeated Eric Montoya from Nebraska in the opening round by 7-4 decision... picked up an 11-5 decision over Purdue's Danny Sabatello to advance to the quarterfinals... dropped a 7-1 decision to Iowa's Cory Clark in the quarterfinals... was eliminated by Mason Beckman of Bucknell, falling 5-2... finished runner-up at the Big 12 Championships, suffering a 10-5 loss to Cody Brewer from Oklahoma in the finals... to begin the 2015 calendar year, compiled a 12-0 record before losing to Wisconsin's Ryan Taylor, 4-3... pinned 2015 national champion Cody Brewer in 1:02... was named Big 12 Wrestler of the Week following his performance in the ISU-OU dual...posted a 6-0 record against top-20 opponents during his 12 match win streak... won the Southern Scuffle behind a dominating performance... knocked off three top-10 opponents en route to his Scuffle title... pinned Virginia's George DiCamillo in 5:34 to avenge a loss from earlier in the year... his performance at the Southern Scuffle earned him Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honors...finished in fourth place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational behind a 5-2 record on the weekend... was crowned champion at the Kaye Young Open to begin the season.

Earned All-America honors in first collegiate season, finishing eighth at 125 pounds… went 3-3 at the NCAA Championships… just the second Cyclone All-American at 125 pounds since the weight-class change in 1999… upset No. 4 seed Josh Martinez 8-1 in the second round to punch his ticket to the NCAA quarterfinals, where he fell in overtime to No. 5 seed Dylan Peters of UNI… beat No. 15 seed Anthony Zanetta of Pitt 8-5 in the round of 12 to clinch a spot on the podium… went 0-2 at first Big 12 Championship… finished the year 22-15 with six wins over ranked foes… went 3-0 with two wins over ranked opponents at the NWCA National Duals… finished tied for second on the team in pins with six… took third-place at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open… took eighth-place at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational… tallied a pin with 20 seconds left to spare by way of cement mixer after trailing 9-4 to Minnesota’s Sam Brancale in the dual with the top-ranked Gophers… finished in third-place at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open after going 5-1 with two pins.

2012 FILA Junior World Team Trials champion, wrestling at 60 KG (132 pounds)… 2012 Junior World Team member... qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in Iowa City, Iowa where he wrestled at 55 KG (121 pounds)…  went 2-2 at the trials with a win over former Minnesota Gopher Zach Sanders, who was a four-time All-American in college… bronze medalist at Ivan Illeav International… also took fourth-place at the coveted Dave Schultz Memorial International in 2012.
