Cyclones Defeat UMKC, 4-0

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Iowa State women’s tennis team earned a 4-0 win against UMKC Tuesday afternoon at the Plaza Tennis Center. The Cyclones (6-8) travel to Texas to face Texas and Texas Tech this weekend.

The match was started with singles competition and Simona Cacciuttolo quickly defeated Laura Bouet, 6-3, 6-1 to give the Cyclones the early advantage against UMKC (5-12). At No. 2 singles, Ksenia Pronina earned a straight-set 6-2, 6-2 win over the Kangaroos’ Dimitra Stavrianakou.

Meghan Cassens earned the 6-0, 6-2 win over Eva Dalvai to put ISU up 3-0 and give Ana Gasparovic an opportunity to clinch the match at the No. 4 spot.

Gasparovic didn’t disappoint, earning a hard-fought 6-1, 1-6, 10-5 win over Maddie Schulte.
