Iowa State Tennis Ready for Home Opener
Ames, Iowa- Iowa State tennis will open their season at home on Friday at Ames Racquet and Fitness’ indoor courts.
Last weekend at the Florida Gulf Coast Spring Invite, junior Ksenia Pronina took second place in the top-flight. Junior Meghan Cassens and sophomore Ana Gasparovic also teamed up for a second-place finish in top-flight doubles.
“Playing with the elements was just a little bit different,” head coach Armando Espinosa said, “Playing with the sun and the wind, even the blue sky makes a difference when we come home and play in what we consider perfect conditions indoors, it’s going to help.”
Espinosa is confident that last weekend’s matches helped his team prepare for Friday’s matches.
“I’m feeling pretty good [about Friday’s upcoming matches],” Espinosa said. “It’s a great thing for us if you get to play that much tennis in a short period of time.”
The Cyclones will take on Southeast Missouri State at 9 a.m. followed by Omaha at 12 p.m.
