About the Iowa State Classic
The Iowa State Classic is the longest running track and field meet hosted by Iowa State University. The event has produced for several facility and university records and has attracted some of the nation’s top talent for over 20 years.
Lied Recreation Athletic Center will be host to a number of the country’s elite, as over 100 All-Americans from both track and field and cross country are scheduled to make their way to Ames, Iowa to compete in the 23rd annual Iowa State Classic.
This year’s field will be made up from teams from across the country, spanning 16 conferences (Big 12, Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Ivy League, Mountain West, Big East, ECAC, Sun Belt, American, Southern, Big Sky, Missouri Valley, WAC, Summit League and Ohio Valley), including seven teams ranked in the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) top-25.
The elevated level of individual and team competition will make the meet one of the best in the nation, as teams and individuals look to punch their tickets to Albuquerque, N.M. and qualify for the NCAA Championships, Mar. 14-15.
Elite level athletes will also be traveling to Ames, as runners from the Brooks Beasts, Adidas Rogue AC, Furman Elite and New Jersey-New York Track Club are slated to compete at the 2014 Iowa State Classic.
