Iowa State Awarded 2014 Volleyball Regional
AMES, Iowa - The NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball committee has announced that Iowa State University has been selected to host the 2014 NCAA Women's Volleyball Regionals at Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State hosted the first and second rounds of the 2009 NCAA Championships and ranked fourth among 16 host sites in attendance, averaging 2,646 spectators per session. The Cyclones are one of just eight schools to advance to the NCAA Regionals in each of the last three seasons.
"We are thrilled about the opportunity to host the 2014 NCAA Regional," Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch said. "Our event staff did an exceptional job hosting the first and second rounds last year and I believe put us in a position to bid for a regional. This demonstrates the tremendous support, both from our administration and our fans, that our program has enjoyed over the past several years."
Among the other schools selected to host regionals in 2014 include Louisville, Minnesota and Washington. The Big 12 Conference will serve as the host for the 2014 NCAA Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The NCAA also announced the 2012 (California, Nebraska, Texas, Purdue) and 2013 (Southern California, Kentucky, Florida, Illinois) hosts.
