Cyclones Rally To Top Bluejays, 3-2
HARLAN, Iowa – Iowa State volleyball opened its spring slate with a 3-2 (25-17, 19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-6) comeback win over Creighton on Thursday night at Harlan High School.
Junior outside hitter Victoria Hurtt led the Cyclones with 14 kills in the match, one of three players with double-digit kills on the night. Sophomores Andie Malloy and Mackenzie Bigbee each posted 11 kills and redshirt freshman Morgan Kuhrt had eight kills.
Iowa State’s defense was led by reigning Big 12 Libero of the Year, Kristen Hahn, who had 15 digs, just ahead of defensive specialist Caitlin Nolan who had 13 digs. Malloy and Jenelle Hudson each added seven digs in the win.
Continuing a trend of solid serving showcased throughout the 2012 fall season, the Cyclones collected 11 aces from seven different players on Thursday including three each from Bigbee and Hudson.
