COLUMBUS, Ohio – Iowa State sophomore Scott Fernandez’ historic season came to a close this afternoon after firing a final-round 70, his lowest 18-hole total of the tournament. The Cyclone star finished the NCAA Columbus Regional tied for 13th with a 218 (74-74-70) three-round total.

Fernandez found trouble early, bogeying three of his first five holes, but the Granada, Spain native bore down to shoot 4-under over the final 13 holes, a run highlighted by four birdies. The stellar performance lifted him seven spots on the leaderboard after starting the day tied for 20th. Fernandez was one of nine golfers to shoot under par over the final 18 holes at the Scarlet Course.
