Hahn to Take Part in National Team Tryouts
AMES, Iowa – Three-time All-American libero Kristen Hahn prepares for the next step in her volleyball career this weekend as she heads to the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. For U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team tryouts.
Tryouts will take place Friday through Sunday. For the first time ever, tryouts will be aired live online. Viewers can watch the tryouts by clicking here. Fans are encouraged to use the hashtag “#usavtryout” to follow along and send your support to Hahn.
The tryouts are taking place for both the Women’s National Team and the Collegiate National Team, formerly known as the Senior A2 Team. Hahn will only be trying out for the Women’s National Team as the Collegiate National Team is exclusively for players that have no exhausted their collegiate eligibility.
Hahn, a Cedar Rapids native, concluded her Iowa State career in December as one of the most decorated players in Iowa State volleyball history. Along with being a three-time AVCA All-American, she was also a three-time Big 12 Libero of the Year. Combined with former ISU libero Ashley Mass’ three-straight awards, Iowa State has won the last six Big 12 Libero of the Year awards.
During the 2013 season, in which Hahn helped lead Iowa State to its third-straight NCAA Volleyball Championship appearance, Hahn re-wrote many sections of the Iowa State record books.
Hahn finished 2013 with 5.71 digs per set, the highest rate for a season in school history, her career digs per set mark of 5.17 dps is also an Iowa State record. She was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week five times in 2013 and 17 times in her career, a record for Big 12 volleyball. She finished her career with the most 20-dig matches (49) and 30-dig matches (8) in a career, Hahn also had the three highest single-season number of 20-dig matches. Hahn also finished her ISU tenure with 68 straight matches recording at least 10 digs, a streak that encompassed the entire 2012 and 2013 seasons.
