AMES, Iowa- Iowa State senior goalkeeper Maddie Jobe earned Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.  This marks the fifth time that Jobe has been named the conference defensive player of the week in her career.

Jobe earned the honors after recording her Iowa State record 19th career shutout against the Kansas Jayhawks on Friday Oct. 4. Without Jobe's heroics the Cyclones would have fallen to the Jayhawks, as the senior made two huge saves in the first half to stop a Jayhawk attack. With 10 minutes remaining in the first half, a Kansas forward fired a shot dead center and just below the crossbar, Jobe leaped up to deflect the shot over the cross bar and hold the score at 0-0. Less than a minute later she laid out after a ball in the left corner of the goal. Jobe finished the contest with seven total saves. Against Drake, Jobe recorded two saves in cold and rainy conditions, giving up just one goal as the Cyclones tied for the second time this week.

Jobe currently ranks first in the Big 12 Conference in saves with 63. Jobe ranks first in the Cyclone record book for shutouts with 19 in her career and second in saves with 291.
