Jamie Vanderbeken, 6-11, 240, Belleville, Ontario
Vanderbeken’s ability to stretch the defense with his long-range shooting has been an integral part of Iowa State’s success this season. The 6-11 forward is averaging 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks in his final year with the Cyclones. His 1.8 bpg average ranks third in the Big 12 and his 47 blocks on the season is the ninth-best single-season total in school history.
Along with sharpshooting junior guard Scott Christopherson, the Vanderbeken-Christopherson tandem is one of the best 3-point shooting duos in the country. Vanderbeken ranks fifth in the Big 12 in 3-point percentage (44.0 percent) this year, drilling 62 treys. Vanderbeken’s 105 career 3-pointers ranks 10th on ISU’s career list and his 43.2 percent clip from beyond the arc is the second-best total in Cyclone history.
Three times this season Vanderbeken made six or more 3-pointers in a game, including a career-high seven treys in Iowa State’s win over Baylor. Vanderbeken poured in a career-high 24 points vs. Virginia, one of four 20-point games on the season.
