McGee Named NJCAA First-Team All-American

AMES, Iowa -Iowa State men's basketball signee Tyrus McGee, a junior-to-be who competed at Cowley County C.C. in Cowley, Kan., in 2010-11, was named First-Team NJCAA Division I All-American, announced today by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

A native of Stringtown, Okla., McGee was one of the most prolific long-range shooters in all of junior college basketball in 2010-11, drilling 115 3-pointers at a 48.7 percent clip while averaging 20.1 points. McGee, who was named First-Team All-Region and earned Jayhawk East Player of the Year honors, led his team to a 25-8 mark and a Jayhawk East championship.

The 6-2, 190-pound guard recorded 1,194 points in his two-year career at Cowley, the third-most in school history, and netted 195 3-pointers. He was named Jayhawk East Freshman of the Year in 2010.
