Four Cyclones Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors
AMES, Iowa – Four Iowa State men’s basketball players have earned 2014 Academic All-Big 12 honors, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Capital One First-Team Academic All-American Melvin Ejim headlines the group, earning first-team honors for the third time in his career. Sherron Dorsey-Walker, Tyler Ellerman and Bubu Palo were named to the second team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.10 to 3.19 GPA.
Ejim, a senior Toronto, Ontario, is leading the Big 12 in scoring with 18.9 points and is third in rebounding with 8.4 boards per game. Ejim is majoring in history.
Dorsey-Walker, a sophomore pre-business major from Detroit, Michigan, was recognized for the first time. Palo, a senior from Ames majoring in finance, earns the honor for the second time in his career.
Ellerman, a senior from Dallas Center, Iowa, makes the list for the first time in his career.
