WACO, Texas – Brady Heslip scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half to lead Baylor (20-10, 8-9 Big 12) to a 74-61 victory over No. 16 Iowa State (22-7, 10-7 Big 12) Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center.

DeAndre Kane led the Cyclones with 20 points behind a career-high five 3-pointers. Dustin Hogue was the only other Cyclone in double figures with 12 points.

Iowa State was down one point (36-35) at halftime despite committing eight turnovers and getting zero points from Melvin Ejim and Georges Niang, a pair of Cyclones averaging over 16.0 points per game.

The play of Kane and the ability to knock down the long ball kept the Cyclones in the game in the opening period. ISU made eight first-half treys, including four from Kane, who ended the break with 17 points.

Niang picked up his second foul three minutes into the game and sat the rest of the first half. Ejim was 0-for-6 in the opening period.

At the 10-minute mark of the second half, there were 11 lead changes with ISU holding a slim 51-50 lead. Baylor then went on a 7-0 run to go up 57-51 with under eight minutes to go. Heslip made a trey to jumpstart the run, his fourth of the second half.

ISU kept close, tying the game at 61-61 on a Kane trey with 4:06 left in the game. ISU then picked a bad time to go into a scoring drought, going scoreless the rest of the way. Heslip hit his fifth trey of the game to put BU ahead followed by two Kenny Cherry jumpers with under a minute remaining, as the Bears went ahead 68-61.

ISU had its streak of scoring 70 points or more ended in the loss. The Cyclones were the only team in the nation to score at least 70 points in every game this year.
