AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State soccer team will kick off the 2014 season with an exhibition game against Omaha Friday at 8 p.m. at the Cyclones Sports Complex. The exhibition marks the first action under new head coach Tony Minatta. Admission to the game is free.

Scouting the Mavericks

The Mavericks are a young team with only two seniors on their roster. The team finished 3-11-2 overall and 1-6 in Summit League play last season. The squad returns a solid combo in Chelsie Rohloff and Hannah Wampler, a duo that combined for three goals last season.

What to watch for

The key thing to watch for will be how coach Minatta manages his team and which athletes stick out in the exhibition. The Cyclones bring plenty of young talent coupled with six returning seniors, giving Minatta numerous weapons to work with.

Results will be available on Cyclones.com after the conclusion of the game. Follow Iowa State soccer’s twitter account @cycloneSCR for live updates on the match.
