IRVING, Texas - Iowa State women’s basketball freshman Seanna Johnson was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Seanna Johnson had two double-digit scoring efforts this week as Iowa State faced two opponents on the road. Johnson also recorded her first-career double-double in Iowa State’s win at Drake Sunday with career-highs in points (14) and rebounds (11). Johnson shot 50 percent from the field this week and 60 percent from long. She also knocked down 80 percent of her free throws. Iowa State was also the only team in the Big 12 to play two road games this week and win both contests.

This is her first career weekly honor and the second for Iowa State this season, as senior Hallie Christofferson was named Player of the Week earlier this season.

Johnson and the No. 23/16 Iowa State Cyclones return to the court on Friday at 9:30 p.m. to take on Eastern Washington in the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas.
