Poppens Named Senior CLASS Award All-American
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior forward Chelsea Poppens has been named a Senior Class Award First-Team All-American. Delaware’s Elena Delle Donne earned the 2012-13 Senior CLASS Award.
Earlier this season, Poppens was named a finalist for the award, which focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – classroom, community, character and competition.
Poppens, an Aplington, Iowa native, earned first-team All-Big 12 honors for the second time in her career after averaging 13.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. She was an Academic All-Big 12 First-Team honoree.
