Bolte Named WBCA All-Region
ATLANTA - Iowa State senior guard Kelsey Bolte has been recognized as an All-Region nominee for the 2010 State Farm Coaches' All-America Team, announced today by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA). Bolte joins the list of 52 candidates, including seven from Region 5, which will be trimmed to 40 finalists when the selection committee meets on March 21. The 40 finalists will be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.
The Ida Grove, Iowa native was an unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 First Team after averaging 16.8 points and grabbing 5.1 rebounds per game. Her 18.6 points per game in Big 12 play ranked third in the league.
Bolte ranks 10th nationally in free throw percentage (89.2), 12th in three-point field goal percentage (43.0) and 31st in 3-pointers per game (2.7).
Her 86 three-pointers this season is second among all Big 12 players. She has scored 539 points, which ranks fourth all-time in the Iowa State record books.
Against the Big 12's top three-teams, Baylor, Texas A&M and Oklahoma, Bolte averaged 23.0 points per game and shot 50 percent (24-48) from the field.
Bolte has posted 12 20-point games this season, including nine in Big 12 play. She has scored 25 or more points in seven games.
She is on the watch list for the State Farm Wade Trophy.
Bolte is joined on the Region 5 list by Danielle Adams (Texas A&M), Brittney Griner (Baylor), Melissa Jones (Baylor), Danielle Robinson (Oklahoma), Odyssey Sims (Baylor) and Tyra White (Texas A&M).
