HOUSTON, Texas - Iowa State senior Kelsey Bolte finished second at ESPN's Three-Point Contest Thursday night at the University of Houston. The event was part of the NCAA Men's Division I Final Four. Massachusetts' senior Cerie Mosgrove won the competition.

Bolte, the seventh Cyclone to participate in the event, led all shooters in the first round, tallying 20 points to advance to the semifinals. Mosgrove was second in the opening round with 17 points. Also advancing was hometown favorite Brittney Scott (Houston) and Sam Quigley (DePaul) with 16 and 14, respectively.

Bolte was the final competitor in the semis and she used a strong start and finish to reach the finals. The Ida Grove, Iowa native hit four of five shots, including the two-point money ball, on the first and final racks to advance. Her final shot, a money ball from the corner, was good and it knocked out Quigley, who tallied 19 points.

Bolte came up short in the finals, scoring 11 points, while Mosgrove knocked in 19 points to win the title.

Bolte finished her career with 276 career three-pointers, good for third all-time at Iowa State and fifth all-time in Big 12 history. Bolte shot 42.1 percent from behind the arc this season and made a career-best 88 three-pointers.

The competition took place Thursday night and was aired nationally by ESPN2 along with the men's three-point and dunk contests.

In the three-point contests, each contestant had to make it through five racks that contained five balls each in 60 seconds. The last ball on each rack was the "money ball" and was worth two points, while the other four balls on the rack were worth just one point.
