Cyclones Lead Big 12 In Attendance

AMES, Iowa – Big 12 women’s basketball led the nation in attendance in 2011-12 for the 13th consecutive year, despite having two less teams, and Iowa State topped the league in average attendance for the fourth consecutive year.

The Cyclones, who finished third nationally averaging 9,805, over 1,000 more fans than the next best team in the Big 12 (Baylor, 8,563).

The Big 12’s 959,993 cumulative attendance was 139,072 more than the Big East, which was second in total attendance with 16 squads. The league’s per game average of 5,304 topped the second-place Big Ten and its 12 teams by 1,176 a contest. Overall, the Big 12’s average more than doubled that of 28 of the 32 leages.
