No. 23 Cyclones Set To Face Wildcats
AMES, Iowa - The No. 23 Iowa State women's basketball team (15-5, 4-5 Big 12) takes on Kansas State (9-11, 3-6 Big 12) on Saturday at 8 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum.
- This is the 82nd overall meeting between Kansas State and Iowa State and the second meeting of the season. ISU dropped a heartbreaker in Manhattan, Kan. earlier this season. The Cyclones have won seven of the last eight regular season games against KSU, downing the Wildcats by an average of 11 points per game over the span.
-The Cyclones are one of the nation’s best free-throw shooting teams, connecting on 79.5 percent from the charity stripe. In conference play, Hallie Christofferson (.940), Brynn Williamson (.920) and Jadda Buckley (.906) top the Big 12 in free-throw shooting.
-Senior Hallie Christofferson was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 Women’s Basketball team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Christofferson was one of just two Big 12 athletes named to the list.
-Freshman Seanna Johnson continues to impress on the boards. Johnson is the second-leading rebounder in the Big 12 and one of just six freshman in the nation averaging 8.3 boards per game. Johnson is also the only 5-10 freshman in the country with 8.3 boards per game to her name.
-Iowa State sits at 38th in the latest RPI rankings after a 15-5 start to the season. Iowa State is currently the fifth among all Big 12 schools.
-The Cyclones dropped three spots to No. 23 in the AP Poll after falling to Oklahoma and defeating Texas Tech this past week. The Cyclones also sit at No. 21 in the USA Today Coaches poll. This is the 22nd-straight time Iowa State has been ranked in the AP or USA Today polls.
-During Big 12 play, Hallie Christofferson is averaging 17.2 points, the senior is also a combined 50-of-116, shooting 43.1 percent from the field. Christofferson also is one of just two players in the Big 12 in the top-10 in seven different categories, with the other being Baylor’s Odyssey Sims.
-Christofferson currently ranks eighth in the Iowa State record books with 1,533 career points. The senior is one of just eight Cyclones in ISU history to reach 1,500 career points. Christofferson is also one of just four Cyclones with 1,500 points and over 700 rebounds, joining Megan Taylor, Angie Welle, Jayme Olson and Tonya Burns.
-Iowa State’s 11-0 non-conference record marks just the third time in school history the Cyclones posted a perfect non-conference schedule. Since the 2005-06 season, only nine Big 12 squads have posted undefeated non-conference slates.
-The Cyclones’ 14-game winning streak to kick off the season is the longest in school history and also sets the school record for a program-best start (14-0).
Last Time Out
-Iowa State dropped its fifth game of the season at West Virginia, 67-56. Iowa State went down by as much as 24 points against the Mountaineers, but clawed their way back into the game with a few minutes left, cutting the WVU lead to just eight at one point.
-Hallie Christofferson was the only Cyclone to reach double-digit points, ending the game with 20. The senior was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line.

-This is the 82nd overall meeting between the Cyclones and Wildcats. Kansas State holds a 48-33 edge over the Cyclones in the all-time series. Iowa State dropped the last game against the Wildcats in Manhattan, Kan., 74-80.
