Cyclones Ready for South Point Shootout

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The No. 23 Iowa State women's basketball team (4-0, 0-0 Big 12) hits the road to Las Vegas, Nev., to take on Eastern Washington and Auburn in the South Point Shootout from Nov. 29-30. Iowa State looks to improve to 6-0 for the first time since the 2001-02 season.

Cyclone Headlines
- Iowa State is looking for its best start in 11 years if it improves to 6-0 in the two-game Las Vegas outing. The last time the Cyclones were 6-0 was the 2001-02 season. Iowa State will face Eastern Washington on Friday and Auburn on Saturday in the South point Shootout.
- In ISU’s game against the Cincinnati Bearcats Head Coach bill Fennelly coached his 800th-career game in his 26-year head coaching career. Fennelly boasts a 400-182 (.685) record at Iowa State and a 566-235 overall as a head coach. The win over the Drake Bulldogs on Sunday marked Fennelly’s 400th win as the head coach of the Cyclones.
- Iowa State dropped one spot to No. 23 in the Associated Press poll after a 2-0 week on the road where the Cyclones handed a 78-42 loss to Cincinnati and an 89-47 loss to Drake. The Cyclones rank No.15 in the USA Today Coaches poll. This is the 13th-straight time Iowa State has been ranked in the AP or USA Today polls.
- Iowa State is one of just 42 teams in the country with an undefeated record. The Cyclones sit at 4-0 entering the South Point Shootout.
- Senior forward Hallie Christofferson is averaging 26.8 points and 8.5 rebounds through four games this season. Her 26.8 points per game ranks fourth nationally and second in the Big 12.
The Iowa State starting lineup consists of a senior, two juniors and two freshmen, with Jadda Buckley and Seanna Johnson joining last year’s returners in Nikki Moody, Christofferson and Brynn Williamson. Iowa State is one of just four Big 12 schools this season that have started at least one freshman and one of three schools to have multiple freshman in the starting lineup. Only two teams in the AP Top 25 have started two freshmen in every game this season.
- This will be the first meeting between the Cyclones and Eastern Washington and the second meeting between ISU and Auburn. The Cyclones and Tigers met in December of 2001 in San Diego for the Surf and Slam Hoop Classic. The game resulted in an 80-75 overtime victory for the Cyclones.
- The Cyclones are averaging 84.8 points per game, which ranks 22nd nationally, and holding opponents to just 54.0 points, which ranks 20th nationally. Iowa State is shooting 47.0 percent from the field and also holding opponents to 34.7 percent. The Cyclones defense is also forcing an average of 16.0 turnovers per game.
- Iowa State continues its impressive showing at the free-throw line, ranking second nationally shooting  86 percent at the line. ISU led the nation last year in free-throw shooting making 86.3 percent.

Last Time Out
- Iowa State continued its winning ways with an 42-point victory over the Drake Bulldogs, 89-47. The Cyclones 42-point victory margin matches the second-largest in series history (87-45 in 2012). The win improved Iowa State to 4-0 for the eighth time under head Coach Fennelly.
- Hallie Christofferson led the Cyclones with 25 points, with freshman Seanna Johnson netting a career-high 14 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double.
- The win over Drake was an all-out team effort as a season-high four players nabbed double-digit scoring efforts and  seven different players knocked down a three-pointer.

Scouting Eastern Washington
- The Eagles sit at 0-3 on the season after dropping games to Portland, SMU and No. 24 Gonzaga.  Two of the Eagles losses were by just five or less points.
- EWU is shooting 40.8 percent from the field and 35.5 percent from long.
- Laura Hughes leads Eastern Washington going 23-of-38 from the field through three games this season. Her 60.5 percent from the field ranks 29th nationally.
- The Eagles are trying to snap a four-game losing streak dating back to the final game of last season.

Scouting Auburn
- The Tigers enter the South Point Shootout with a 3-2 record after defeating Georgia Southern, Jacksonville State and Alabama A&M, but falling to Temple and Chattanooga. Both the Tigers’ losses came on the road.
- The Tigers stand out as one of the nation’s top rebounding teams after the first few weeks of competition, holding a 13.8 rebounding margin over opponents which ranks 15th in the nation.
- The Tigers have four players in double-digits with Tyrese Tanner (15.8),  Brandy Montgomery (12.3), Tra’Cee Tanner (12.2) and Peyton Davis (10.8). AU’s offense is averaging 67.6 points per game. 

Iowa State From Beyond the Arc
- The Cyclones knocked down 41 three-pointers so far this season for a league-leading average of 10.3 trey’s per game, which ranks fifth nationally. Iowa State also leads the Big 12 in three-point field goal percentage shooting 40.6 from long, which ranks 12th in the nation.
- Hallie Christofferson and Kidd Blaskowsky lead Iowa State with 19 three-pointers between the two.

Free Shots
- Iowa State continues to be one of the nation’s best free-throw shooting teams making 86 percent of its free shots, good for first in the Big 12 and second in the nation. Freshman Jadda Buckley and Hallie Christofferson lead Iowa State at the charity stripe. buckley is tied for first in the nation with a perfect 10-0f-10 at the line while Christofferson is shooting 93.8 percent, which is good for 30-of-32 ranking 33rd nationally.
