Since I started coaching at Iowa State in 2008, progress has been made all across the board for the soccer program. One of the first areas we wanted to improve was community interest, and it has shown! In my first year, we set new attendance records, as fans packed the ISU Soccer Complex. In 2010 we set the single-game attendance record with over 1000 fans for our match against Iowa. Our players responded by winning two of the last four Cyclone Challenge Award that goes to the ISU team that made the greatest contribution to the community.
Every year that I have been at Iowa State we have won more games than the previous season. This past season, with a very young team, we tallied the most wins since 2005 despite our toughest schedule to date.
One area that has not changed is our work in the classroom. I am extremely proud of the commitment our players have made to succeeding in the classroom. This year, we had a record 13 players receive Academic All-Big 12 honors. Since I have been at Iowa State, we have had two ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District first-team members and Ann Gleason was named Academic All-American. We have tremendous support in academics and our players are constantly over at the new Hixson-Lied Student Success Center.
I want to thank you for being interested in attending Iowa State University and being a member of the Cyclone soccer team. We feel we have something truly special that is about to burst on the scene and it would be great for you to be a part of it.
Go Cyclones!
