Iowa State Handles Drake, 3-0
AMES, Iowa - Junior Jennifer Dominguez continued her scoring ways at the Cyclone Sports Complex Sunday with a pair of goals in Iowa State's 3-0 win over Drake. Junior Erin Green added Iowa State's third goal in the win.
Dominguez has registered 13 goals this season, a mark that ties her for second all-time with Jo Hinks. Hinks also owns the top spot in goals scored in a season in program history with 18. Dominguez is responsible for the first six Iowa State goals in the history of the Cyclone Sports Complex.
With the win, Iowa State's season record stands at 10-7. The Cyclones reached the 10-win mark for the fifth time in program history and the first time since 2005. Drake fell to 12-4-1 on the year.
Green's goal was a part of a career-best three-point game for the Hugo, Minn., native. Green also provided the assist for Dominguez's first goal.
Dominguez scored 6:57 into the match to give the Cyclones the early 1-0 lead. The Lubbock, Texas, native doubled the Cyclone edge 4:11 after halftime, this time off an assist from Meredith Skitt.
Green scored via a shot just outside the penalty box after junior Brittany Morgan played her behind the Bulldog defense 61:19 into the match.
The Cyclones controlled the match throughout with a 14-2 shots edge. Drake did register four corner kicks to the Cyclones' one.
Junior Maddie Jobe played the first 75 minutes in goal for Iowa State and made a save. Sophomore Andrea Swanson played the final 15 minutes and also notched a save. Jobe earned the win to improve her season mark to 7-4.
Iowa State returns to Big 12 Conference play Friday with a road trip to Kansas. The Cyclones will face the Jayhawks Friday at 3 p.m. CT in Lawrence.
