Dominguez Earns Big 12 Player of the Year Honor
AMES, Iowa - Iowa State junior forward Jennifer Dominguez was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year by College Sports Madness Monday. Junior midfielder Emily Goldstein was tabbed second-team honors as well.
Dominguez was also named to the College Sports Madness Big 12 First team.
Dominguez led the Big 12 in both goals (14) and points (28) at the conclusion of the regular season. Dominguez's 14-goal campaign is the second-highest in program history. Jo Hinks registered 18 goals in 1997. With her 28 points, Dominguez tied Jun Shen (1997) for the third-highest season output in school history. Dominguez notched four game-winning goals in 2012, a mark that ties her for first in program history with Erica Florez (1998) and Hinks (1996).
Goldstein registered four goals and an assist in 2012. Goldstein's four goals tied for the second on the team with Kaeli Flaska.
Iowa State concluded its 2012 campaign with its first 10-win season since 2005.
