Cyclones Fall to Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA, Calif.- The Iowa State soccer team fell 5-1 against the Santa Clara Broncos Friday night at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The loss dropped Iowa State to 4-3 on the season and improved the Broncos to 4-2.
Turning Point of the Game
With the score tied up at 1-1 Santa Clara’s Julie Johnston scored a goal on an assist from Julie Vass. From there on the Cyclones couldn’t match the Broncos offensive attack for the remainder of the game. The Cyclones were able to move the ball, but were just unable to capitalize.

Cyclone Game Ball Goes to
Alyssa Williamson. The Cyclone scored the first goal of her career with a shot from 30 yards out that sailed over the Broncos goalkeeper. The shot put the Cyclones up 1-0 within the second minute of the game to give the Cyclones the early lead and momentum.

*Alyssa Williamson recorded her first goal of the season. The goal was also the first of Williamson’s career.
*Senior goalkeeper Maddie Jobe brought her career total saves mark up to 236. She currently sits in fourth place in the Cyclone record book trailing Beth Chapman by four saves for third place.
* Susie Potterveld recorded an assist on the goal by Williamson. That marks the second assist of the season for Potterveld.
