Goldstein Honored by College Sports Madness
AMES, Iowa – College Sports Madness has named Iowa State midfielder Emily Goldstein Madness Women’s Soccer Big 12 Player of the Week, the organization announced today.
Goldstein recorded one of the finest games in Iowa State history scoring three goals and completing the hat trick in a 4-1 win against Oklahoma. Her standout performance boosted the Cyclones to their first conference win of the season. Goldstein’s offensive onslaught started in the second half, scoring what would be the game-winner off an assist from freshman Koree Willer. She tacked on two more just minutes apart for the hat trick.
Heading into the game Goldstein had buried two goals on the season, and after the game she is now tied for the Cyclone lead in goals scored this season with five. Goldstein is only the eighth Cyclone to ever score three or more goals in a game. All of Goldstein’s goals were scored in the second half.
After a two-game road swing the Cyclones return home to face the 23rd-ranked Baylor Bears on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Cyclone Sports Complex.
