Tennis Earns NCAA Public Recognition Award
INDIANAPOLIS – The Iowa State tennis team was honored with the NCAA Public Recognition Award the NCAA announced. The award is given to programs with a multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) in the top 10 percent in the nation for their sport.
The awards for 2013 were based on the 2011-12 multi-year APR. The tennis team has ranked among the top three teams in the Big 12 for student-athletes placed on the academic all-league teams for the last four years.
“This recognition speaks volumes about our student-athletes efforts in the classroom and the support they receive from our university and the Academic Services Department,” head coach Armando Espinosa said. “Our team takes great pride in their classwork so this is a great honor.”
The team will be honored with a letter of recognition from the NCAA.
