AMES, Iowa – Iowa State wrapped up competition at the 2014 Bill Bergan Invitational with a bang, Saturday, as Cyclone junior Kendra White broke the program record in the 400-meter dash.

White broke hard off the blocks and ran strong throughout the race. The St. Louis, Mo., native set a personal record and crossed the line nearly 9 tenths of a second faster than her previous mark. White ran in second for the entirety of her heat, and crossed the line more than 4 tenths of a second ahead of the previousrecord (Ese Okoro, 54.54 - 2013). Her performance was good for a third place finish in the 400m and is now ranked inside the nation’s top-20 in the event.

Ejiro Okoro joined the national ranks as well, notching a first-place finish in the women’s 800-meter run. Okoro ran with the leaders for the first half of the race before running away with the title by over a second. The Birmingham, England, native crossing the line in a meet-record 2:05.78, which is good for the third fastest time in the nation this season.

Two-time All-American Christina Hillman was impressive again in today’s action. The junior thrower hit a mark of 55’03.00” on the day. Hillman is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation in the shot put and has won each event that she has competed in this season.

A pair of Cyclones notched top-five finishes in the women’s 3,000-meter run. Bethanie Brown (1st) and Samantha Bluske (3rd) worked together throughout the race, running just behind the leaders. The two then used a strong final 300 meters en route to their respective finishes.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Ryan Sander made his season debut, notching a third-place finish. Sander won his preliminary heat before finishing third in the finals.

Brian Llamas finished second in the men’s mile. Llamas was very disciplined in the race. Starting from the back of the pack, the Westmont, Ill., native picked up the pace with 600 meters to go, passing all but the leader en route to the runner-up finish.

Kevin Poster captured the men’s triple-jump title with a mark of 47’09.25”. The mark is Poster’s best of the 2014 season.

Edward Kemboi traveled to Penn State's National Invitational to compete in the 800m. Kemboi finished third in 1:49.22 after getting boxed in midway through the race.
