Okoro, Women's 4x400 Highlight ISU's Saturday Action
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State student-athletes at the Tiger Classic took center stage today, as the Cyclones notched two event titles and picked up four personal records in the effort. At the Stanford Invitational, two more Cyclones notched personal records in the women’s 800-meter run. The Cyclones closed the weekend picking up a total of 18 PRs at the two meets.
Ese Okoro’s first-place performance in the 400-meter hurdles highlighted the Cyclones’ day at the Tiger Classic. The Birmingham, England, native notched a personal-best of 56.78 seconds in the event, moving up to fourth on Iowa State’s all-time list. Her time is also good for the second fastest in the NCAA this season and currently ranks fifth in the world. Krista Shoeman finished sixth in the race, crossing the line in 1:00.50.
Derek Jones equaled his performance at the Baldy Castillo Invitational, clocking in at 52.07 seconds. The time equals his personal best in the event, which was good for second in the race. Kris Brander and Trey Achterhoff finished 13th and 14th in the event in 54.353 and 54.354, respectively.
In the women’s 400-meter run, Kendra White took third place in 54.58 seconds. The race marked White’s second-fastest outdoor performance of her Cyclone career.
Dana Christensen’s showing in the 200-meter dash was good for 10th on Iowa State’s all-time list, crossing the line in 24.61 seconds. The time bests her previous mark by over a second (25.63).
Alec Baldwin notched a runner-up finish in the 1,500m, placing second behind Middle Tennessee State’s Eliud Rutto. Baldwin crossed the line in a personal-best time of 3:47.94.

The Cyclone women wrapped competition at the Stanford Invite, running the 800m. Maggie Gannon and Colleen Riley both notched PR’s in their races, crossing the line in 2:08.74 and 2:13.52, respectively. Gannon was Iowa State’s top finisher in the event, placing 11th among collegiate competitors.
