Dexter Green ranked as ISU’s all-time leading rusher with 3,347 yards for nearly two decades. As a sophomore on the 1976 squad, Green was instrumental in leading the Cyclones to the second most potent offensive team in the nation in terms of total offense. He gained 1,074 yards on 208 carries that season.
In 1977, Green rushed for 172 yards in the Peach Bowl. He was named to the All-America team in 1978, leading the Cyclones to the Hall of Fame Bowl. Green is one of seven Cyclones to gain 200 yards in a game with a 214-yard effort against
Green earned all-Big Eight tailback honors twice. Following his senior year, the Cyclone running back was selected as a Hula Bowl, Japan Bowl and Olympia Bowl participant. He played two years for the New York Jets.
