Finished the season with a 23-17 record, which included a 7-8 dual mark… qualified for his first NCAA Championship… earned a spot to wrestle in New York City when he finished fifth at the 2016 Big 12 Championship… went 3-2 in Kansas City to lock up Big 12 podium honors… finished third at the Cyclone Open with four wins by fall… defeated Nebraska-Kearney’s Connor Bolling by 9-7 decision in sudden-victory in the consolation championship match… began the year with a championship-performance at the Grandview Open… posted two falls and won the title match by 16-0 technical-fall over Grand View’s Da’Wayne Robertson… earned the Iowa State wrestling Total Commitment Award.
Finished his sophomore season with a 20-13 overall record... posted a 6-7 record in duals for the Cyclones... closed out dual competition with a 5-2 decision over Wisconsin's Johnny Jimenez... Went 3-2 at the Southern Scuffle, falling one win shy of landing on the podium... took third place at the UNI Open, posting three bonus-point victories (two falls, one major-decision)... Kicked off his 2014-15 campaign by defending his Kaye Young Open championship... defeated Iowa State freshman Nathan Boston in the finals at the Kaye Young Open by 3-1 decision.
Went 18-8 wrestling for the Cyclones and was 3-2 in dual competition … placed third at both the Kaye Young Open and at the Grand View Open, recording bonus points in four matches at the two tournaments (one tech-fall, one pin, two major decisions) … Picked up dual victories against opponents from Grand View, Midland and Rutgers … placed fifth at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open, picking up a tech-fall over Iowa Western's Ariel Dominguez, a pin over South Dakota State's Ben Gillette and a major decision over St. Cloud State's Dallas Collier in the tournament.
Redshirted initial collegiate season… posted an 11-4 record competing unattached… Kaye Young Open champion… went 4-0 en route to 133 pound title, picking up a 13-7 win over Joao Vicente (William Penn) in the championship match… picked-up a 16-2 major decision over Ryan Bauer (Nebraska-Kearney) at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open… went 3-2 at the UNI Open… University of Dubuque Open champion, as he went 3-0 en route to the title… looked impressive in the championship match as he pinned Tom Foy of Wheaton (IL) in 25 seconds… competed at the FILA Junior Nationals in Las Vegas, where he picked up a pin over Jacob Rubio in the second round of the consolation bracket.
Compiled a career prep record of 122-15 … three-time Iowa state tournament place winner at Valley High School … finished fifth as a sophomore (125), fourth as a junior (125) and third as a senior (132)… coached by Travis Young.
