Rhoads Names Starting Quarterback For Tulsa
AMES, Iowa - Iowa State head football coach Paul Rhoads announced Tuesday that the Cyclones will go with Steele Jantz as the starting quarterback against Tulsa on Sept. 1 in Jack Trice Stadium.
“Steele has demonstrated the skill set that I think is ideal for our offense,” Rhoads said. “The main point is that we have depth at the quarterback position with two men who led us to a second bowl game appearance in three years.”
Jantz started seven games last season, throwing for 1,519 yards and 10 touchdowns. His biggest game was a triple-overtime victory over Iowa in September. The senior completed 25 of 37 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns against the Hawkeyes and rushed for 42 yards in a 44-41 Iowa State victory.
