His career average of 42.8 yards per kick ranks him second on the all-time ISU career list … averaged 41 yards on 77 attempts … put 29 punts inside the 20-yard line with only two touchbacks … had 10 punts of 50 yards or more … in season-opening win over Tulsa, averaged 43 yards on nine punts and dropped five punts inside 16-yard line … biggest game came against Texas Tech when he averaged 49.3 yards per punt with four longer than 50 yards … has had only one punt blocked in his career.
Honorable mention All-Big 12 from coaches and The Associated Press … played in all 13 games … ranked fourth in the Big 12 and 29th nationally, averaging 42.7 yards per punt on 68 attempts with a long of 67 … pinned 21 punts inside the opposition 20-yard line … had 15 punts of 50+ yards … punted five times at an average of 51.2 yards per kick with a long of 65 against Northern Iowa with three kicks over 50 yards and three inside the 20 … put four punts inside the 20 at Connecticut … season long punt of 67 yards came at Baylor … ran on fake puts for first downs against Kansas and Kansas State.
Could not have had a better freshman season as Iowa State’s starting punter … was named a first-team freshman All-American with good reason … his average of 45.2 yards per kick ranked second in Iowa State history and in the Big 12 Conference … ranked ninth nationally in that category … boomed a career-best 74-yard punt at Texas … dropped 22 punts inside opponents’ 20-yard lines … had 19 kicks of 50 or more yards.
Ranked 10th among Iowans according to Rivals.com ... two-year letterwinner ... averaged 40.5 yards per punt on 27 attempts for the Tigers ... also played wide receiver for Valley, collecting 18 catches for 236 yards and one touchdown ... unanimous all-Iowa Conference and second-team 4A All-State according to the Iowa Newspaper Association ... coached by Gary Swenson ... also lettered in soccer ... first team All-Iowa Conference goalie.
Born April 3, 1992 ... son of Ron and Sal Van Der Kamp ... kinesiology – health fitness management major ... cousin Jamie Beyer was a seven time All-American thrower for the Iowa State track and field team (1997-2000).
